Scenes from a birthday

Kate turned 5 today!

Some scenes from the celebration:

Some explanations:

• Kate shares a birthday with our good friends' son, Davis (hence, the "Kate and Davis" cake). It's our tradition to have dinner with Davis' family, followed by an outing to Chuck E. Cheese's.
  
• Kate's gift from us, visible in a couple of the photos, was a "Dora Talking Playhouse" (of Dora the Explorer fame).
  
• The funniest scene of the day: the middle picture in the bottom row. That's Anna trying to hide her face while the wait staff at Joe's Crab Shack sang happy birthday to Kate. Anna said she was "soooo embarrassed and humiliated" to have the whole restaurant looking at us!

Next weekend, we'll celebrate Kate's and her two cousins' birthdays with all the extended family. She can't wait!
